KIMARK’S DUAL FLARE: RELIABLE, AUTOMATED, COMPLETE COMBUSTION

In the field, VOC conditions change—some over time as the facility is updated, and some from moment to moment. Kimark’s new, state of the art Dual Flare system is flexible enough to keep up with any and all changes. Since OTA Compression and Kimark Systems have merged together to be a complete vapor recovery and control solutions company, this new addition to the product line combines the low and high pressure expertise of both organizations.
The ease with which its stacks can be lengthened from 30 feet to 40 to 50 as needs change make it the perfect system for any location. It can be easily moved to a new location as well.
OTA’s Lisa Kramr explains, “The unit is specifically designed for dual stream volatile organic compounds (VOC) control at a 98 percent destruction rate efficiency (DRE). That means at least 98 percent of the present VOCs are destroyed, which exceeds the EPA’s Quad O requirements. It’s made to handle both low pressure (such as storage vessel flash) gases and high pressure gases including those from wellheads, separators and other pressurized flow.”
Most of the flares currently on the market handle low pressure from storage tanks OR high pressure from wellheads, but none can take care of both with the efficiency of Kimark’s new Dual Flare technology.
Flexibility is key. The system’s 30’ stack can handle flow rates of 2.5 MMCFD at 30 psig. The 50’ stack unit reaches 5 MMCFD at 30 psig. Because the stacks are modular, they allow for maximum adaptability to accommodate changing field situations.
One of the biggest challenges on the low pressure side involves keeping the flare burning in a smokeless manner at the lowest pressure levels. Kimark solves this with the assistance of a variable speed blower that maintains a proper air to fuel ratio throughout the 0-16 ounce operating range. The inlet pressure ranges of 5-30 psi.of the high pressure section keeps the flame doing its job under a wide range of pressure conditions.
Kramr notes that power failures at remote sites can be a threat to DRE compliance, and the Dual Flare is prepared for that as well. “If the power grid goes down our unit converts to 12V power from a battery powered backup system. This keeps the pilot ignited and continues the monitoring Kimark’s advanced, flexible Dual Flare system keeps facilities Quad O compliant process required by EPA’s Quad O regulations.”
The Dual Flare system handles H2S, SO2, CO2, and CO. Its built-in fuel gas scrubber and auto-dumping VOC scrubber prevent liquid carryover which could damage the unit.
In addition to being easily upgraded and easily moved to a new location, the Dual Flare system is easily serviced by either end user personnel or Kimark / OTA technicians. “We provide customer support by phone or in person—technicians can reach most installation sites within two hours of receiving a call,” Kramr says.
Kimark / OTA technicians can service other companies’ units as well as their own. This allows for a seamless changeover as end users who see the Dual Flare’s benefits begin transitioning away from their previous provider. No one in the business provides better field service than Kimark / OTA!
